Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about League Night.
Getting Started
What is League Night?
League Night is an analytics companion app for APA (American Poolplayers Association) league players. It lets you log your 8-Ball and 9-Ball matches, track detailed stats, earn achievements, and monitor your skill level trend over time — things the official APA app doesn't offer.
Is League Night affiliated with the APA?
No. League Night is an independent, third-party app built by an APA player. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the American Poolplayers Association.
How do I get started?
Download the app or sign up on the web, create your account, set up your first team, and start logging matches. The whole setup takes under a minute. You get a 30-day free trial — no credit card required.
Does League Night work for both 8-Ball and 9-Ball?
Yes. League Night fully supports both APA 8-Ball and 9-Ball formats, including format-specific scoring, team points calculation, achievements, and skill level insights.
Logging Matches
How do I log a match?
Open the app, tap the + button (or go to Log Match on web), select your team and opponent, and fill in the match details — scores, innings, defensive shots, and any special events like break and runs. Your score is validated against APA rules to make sure it's accurate.
What does score validation mean?
League Night enforces APA scoring rules. For 8-Ball, the winner must reach their race-to based on both players' skill levels. For 9-Ball, the winner must reach their point target. This prevents accidental data entry errors.
Can I edit or delete a match after logging it?
Yes. Open the match from your match history, and you can edit the details or delete it entirely. Your stats will recalculate automatically.
Do I need to log matches in real time?
No. You can log matches whenever it's convenient — during the match, right after, or days later. Just enter the details and League Night handles the rest.
Stats & Insights
What stats does League Night track?
League Night offers 14 stat categories including team points summary, win/loss by opponent skill level, average innings, head-to-head records, defensive shot frequency, win percentage by lineup position, nemesis & favorite opponents, current and longest win streaks, giant killer rate, and more. Every stat card has a drill-down detail page.
What is the Skill Level Insight?
Skill Level Insight analyzes your innings efficiency across your last 20 matches and compares it against known APA skill level brackets. It tells you if your game is Trending Up, Approaching Next Level, Stable, or Trending Down. It uses your best 10 of 20 performances and factors in win rate and upset rate.
How is innings efficiency calculated?
For 8-Ball, it's (innings - defensive shots) / games won — lower is better. For 9-Ball, it's points scored / (innings - defensive shots) — higher is better. These mirror the metrics APA uses internally to evaluate players.
Why does my Skill Level Insight say Stable after I changed my skill level?
When League Night detects a skill level change, it only uses matches played after the change to calculate your trend. If you have fewer than 10 matches at your new skill level, it defaults to Stable until you've logged enough data for an accurate reading.
Achievements
How do achievements work?
League Night tracks 12 achievements — 6 for 8-Ball and 6 for 9-Ball. These include Break and Run, 8/9 on the Break, Mini Slam (both in the same match), Shutout/Skunk, Beat a 7/9, and 10 Game Win Streak. They're awarded automatically as you log matches.
Can I earn the same achievement multiple times?
Yes. Break and Run and On-the-Break achievements count actual occurrences — if you get 2 break and runs in one match, that counts as 2. Streak achievements count each completed streak of 10 consecutive wins.
Account & Platforms
Can I use League Night on my phone and the web?
Yes. Your account works across iPhone, Android, and the web. Log in with the same account everywhere and your data syncs automatically in real time.
How do I sign in?
You can sign in with email and password, Apple, or Google. Use the same sign-in method on all your devices to keep your data synced.
How do I update my skill level?
Go to your Profile and edit your 8-Ball or 9-Ball skill level. The change takes effect on your next logged match, and your Skill Level Insight will reset to reflect your performance at the new level.
How do I delete my account?
Contact us at leaguenightapp@gmail.com and we'll permanently delete your account and all associated data within 30 days.
Subscription & Billing
How much does League Night cost?
League Night is $1.99/month or $14.99/year. Both plans include a 30-day free trial so you can try everything before paying.
Do I need a credit card to start the free trial?
Yes. A payment method is required to start your free trial on all platforms. You won't be charged until the 30-day trial ends, and you can cancel anytime before then.
How do I cancel my subscription?
On iPhone: Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions > League Night. On Android: Google Play Store > Subscriptions. On web: Profile > Manage Subscription. Your access continues until the end of your billing period.
What happens to my data if I cancel?
Your data is preserved. If you resubscribe later, all your matches, stats, and achievements will still be there. You just can't access the app while unsubscribed.
Why is there a subscription instead of a one-time purchase?
League Night requires ongoing server costs, cloud database hosting, cross-platform maintenance, and active development of new features. A subscription keeps the app running, ad-free, and continuously improving. At about two racks of pool per month, it's designed to be affordable for every league player.
